We have a lot of Chiropractic Physicians express interest in our Functional Diagnostic Medicine Training Program. Many of them have no clue whether or not they are able to practice FDM, so we thought we’d help them out by compiling information on the chiropractic scope of practices for various states.
We are constantly surprised how many Chiropractic Physicians are unaware of the scope of their own license. Many of them do not know what they can legally do within their state, especially when you consider that chiropractic education includes education on physical examinations, blood tests and other more advanced lab testing .
It saddens and disappoints us when a chiropractor ask us ” can I really do what you teach?”
We would love to say a resounding “YES!”, but in order to easy their concerns we decided to do some work and gather this important information for each State’s scope of practice.
This is an important resource, so please go ahead and click the link below to get access to the excel document we prepared:

Take care..

P.S. We are still waiting for more confirmation e-mails from the rest of the states. Again, if you have a question let us know
This video is a short expose on how I see many, many practitioners practicing nutrition. At the end is a great short piece by Dr. Grisanti called “The True Cash” Practice - very helpful information if you are looking to transition out of the insurance nightmare. Enjoy!
Here’s a special Functional Diagnostic Medicine Report called “F.D.M.- The Next Paradigm Shift in Healthcare”
This special Functional Medicine report is a MUST read if you are serious about adding FDM to your practice or want to build on your exisiting clinic skills!
All of us are sitting on one of the greatest opportunities in the history of healthcare. This report outlines this amazing paradigm shift

The following reviews are from physicians and health care practitioners who have taken our Functional Diagnostic Medicine Training Program…
Hey Docs,
James Padilla here. Just want to give you a word of thanks for offering the functional medicine program. I’m only half way through right now and I’m already seeing the benefits of your course. My patient’s are already referring other patients in for natural care. Patients who have been with me for years and others who are new.
This month alone I have collected close to $10,000 from pure functional diagnostic medicine patients. I can’t say enough about your program. I’ll keep you updated.
Thanks again, James

Every dollar I spent with the functional medicine university has at least been doubled in revenues from the confidence I felt while going through and completing the course. It was extremely well-organized. More than any course I have ever been to, Dr’s Weatherby and Grisanti
want us to learn how to be better doctors AND make money. It is the best course for becoming better physicians and more making a living trying to help people.

I have gotten more information from you than I ever got in Chiropractic school. I think you have great things to offer people and the more they learn, like me, the more they want to do anything it takes to get their patients away from the MDs who just dope them more and more without getting at the cause!!!

FMU is an incredible mentoring program for both new practitioners and those who have been in practice for many years. Questionnaires, PE forms, hand outs, e-books, tracking forms, resource guides, systems…you name it are all included in the tuition costs.
Dicken and Ron are very knowledgeable and present all material very clearly and passionately. I would recommend this program to anyone who is looking to sharpen their clinical skills and offer the best to their patients. Each and every case would benefit from a functional medicine approach.

I loved the FMU training course. It has given me the tools I need and the confidence to really dig into my patient’s histories and current condition to find the best, most efficient ways to bring them to optimal health.

I have taken the DABCI course which does not compare to the FMU course. The FMU course allows you to determine the exact nature of the patients’ problem, they show you how to construct a map to arrive at a destination for improved health. I have more confidence dealing with various patient symptoms rather than use nutrition alone guessing with various vitamins.

Most Functional Medicine education courses are linked to a supplement company. I love that FMU is completely independent. Also, the breadth of information
including, functional blood chemistry analysis, in-office tests, take home tests, physical assessment and functional lab work make your program the most comprehensive I have found.
Thank you!

Chiropractic is the most unique modality for health care available. Whether you are “straight”, full spine, use “silly guns” or not, we all remove neurological interference from our patients.
We can do more!
Helping the “walking wounded” who are currently being drugged for “diseases” that are only symptoms is not the answer. Their bodies continue to scream for help with drug interactions and new side effect symptoms that get treated with another drug. We see that the medical/drug approach is rarely the answer!
Drs. Grisanti and Weatherby have a wonderful program that educates you to correctly address these symptoms that plaque the vast majority of our patients that keep them from enjoying long term health. Do not miss this opportunity to do more for your patients! Sign up for their program today! If you are a Chiropractic Physician and profess a holistic approach, this program is for you (and your patients).

You both did a tremendous amount of work prior to each webinar and provided us with a massive amount of data and information. I did benefit not only for my patients but my own personal well being. I think especially Chiropractors can and will benefit in their practices and able to help patients beyond their structural problems that they usually come and see a chiropractor for.

Your program has added a whole new realm to my practice. I’ve been able to help patients with conditions I never would have considered before and with much confidence. There is much satisfaction being the doctor who helped the patient that others could not. It is amazing to see how many patients are taking the wrong paths in their search for healing. I could not recommend this program enough.

We will be posting all blog posts to this site from now on.
This question just came through and I know some of you have probably wondered the same thing so I thought I’d post it to the blog!
QUESTION:
Hi Dr Weatherby,
I have purchased the entire series of books and am a bit overwhelmed at where to start and then what I should do next. Do you have some kind of procedural manual for using the books I purchased?
Thanks,
MY ANSWER:
Sorry you are frustrated. No, I don’t have a procedural manual but the first place to start is to get the questionnaire into as many patient’s hands as possible. Getting familiar with the questions and being able to do a quick analysis of the questionnaire will be a great skill to develop. I would also recommend listening to the audio CDs on blood chemistry analysis. These will get you familiar with doing a functional analysis of your patients blood. Start ordering and reviewing blood tests, use the tracking forms that come with the blood chem system and start seeing the patterns in the blood chemistry markers.
That’s where I would start and then delve into the other resources as you get more familiar with the terms I use to describe the various dysfunctions your patients suffer with.

I received the following question about goitrogenic foods. Here’s the question. My response is underneath:
I was looking at your “Recommendations for Dealing with Low Thyroid Function” on page 481 of your Signs and Symptoms book. Is it true that all the fruits you list are goitrogens and shouldn’t be eaten raw?
Peaches, Pears, strawberries, Apples, Apricots, Blackberries, Raspberries, Prunes, Cherries, Honeydew, Grapefruit, Grapes, Oranges
Also, you say fresh carrot and spinach juices are okay, but raw carrots and spinach should be avoided. Can you clarify this for me?
My response:
Thanks for your e-mail. You bring up an important point. The list of foods are ones that contain substances that can interfere with thyroid function. The 2 main culprits are isoflavones in soy foods and isothiocyanates in cruciferous vegetables. The fruits on the list are also suspected of containing “goitrogen substances” but the actual chemical that causes this is unknown.
Isoflavones appear to block the action of the thyroid peroxidase enzyme, which is the enzyme that attaches iodine to the tyrosyl residue.Isothiocyanates also appear to block thyroid peroxidase and disrupt cellular “messages” sent between thyroid follicular cells. The net effect is to decrease the output of thyroid hormone (T4).
In the absence of thyroid problems there is no evidence that “goitrogens” negatively impact the health of the thyroid. As you well know isoflavones and isothiocyanates are considered essential accessory nutrients for optimal health. At this point tit’s important to say that there has been no carefully controlled studies that clearly relate the consumption of these goitrogenic foods to low thyroid output. The cause and effect has been noted clinically. So, it is suggested that patients with known low T4 hormone output or clinical hypothyroidism should avoid excessive consumption of these foods. I guess the goal is to limit and not necessarily eliminate the foods on this list.
Cooking the foods apparently lowers their goitrogenic activity and juicing various vegetables also lowers the amounts of goitrogens as compared to eating them raw. A rule of thumb might be to advise patients with thyroid deficiency to eat cruciferous vegetables and the fruits on the list 2-3 times/week consuming one cup and consume tofu once a week.
Hi, Dr. Dicken Weatherby here with an interesting case to talk to you about.
I received an e-mail from one of the docs I work with about a female patient with low serum iron. Her values were between 10-13. Remember my optimal range for total iron is between 50 – 100 micrograms/dl. She presented with infertility and amenorrhea. The doctor used a product called Floradix, a liquid plant based iron supplement and HCL but nothing has increased the blood levels in 6 months. He was stumped and asked my thoughts on this case. This short video is my discussion on this important topic:
All the best,
Dicken
